Newsletter June 2025 - Summertime
Some fun things I researched: annual weather and day/night cycles in Antarctica, obsidian artifacts in Ecuador, and Yumbos Chocolate in Quito.

Hey everyone,
Well June went by fast for me. My concert was a lot of fun and went well. We got some of our music for the fall season so we can practice new. We're doing Bach's Magnificat, which is much more challenging than almost everything we've done so far. It's fast and has a lot of chromatic runs. But it'll be a fun challenge. Here's the tenor solo piece to give you a taste:

Fun, eh?
I managed to make some progress on Draft 2 this month. It's slow going right now, because I have to get a lot of technical and plot details right in Act 1, so I have a solid foundation for Acts 2 and 3. Some fun things I researched: annual weather and day/night cycles in Antarctica, obsidian artifacts in Ecuador, and Yumbos Chocolate in Quito.
Now that summer's here, I'm going to carve out more time for writing and push through Draft 2. Once it's done, I'll be able to get some holistic feedback from others, and I'll slip in some time to dust off A Clockwork Murder to start shopping around.
Some general musing...in today's age of AI generated "slop", it's a great time to support live art: music, theater, physical paintings/drawings, sculpture, etc. and support the up and coming artists so they keep going. See a local band play at a bar, or see a play at a small theater, or even buy a book from a debut author.
I hope everyone has a great start of the summer!
Best,
Todd
